Story

Barry Connell was one of Scotland's shining stars when it came to raw DJ talent but tragically he was taken from us all at a very young age due to Meningitis. His DJ career was on the brink of going interstellar especially after his legendary Radio 1 Essential Mix was recorded at his DJ residency 'Inside Out' at The Arches in Glasgow. His music and legacy lives on in all of us though, and it is this reason why some of his friends and work colleagues have made a special effort to come together and raise awareness of this terrible disease, but do it in a way that Barry would have been happy about and also proud of..through a charity game of football !! Barry had lots of DJ friends not only in Scotland but in Ireland also, so on this basis a charity football match has been set up in Santry Sports Link Centre in Dublin (just 2 mins away from the city) in Ireland on the 11th November. The cream of Scottish & Irish talent have agreed to play in this very special match, the following names have now been confirmed to play: Mark Sherry, David Forbes, Bryan Kearney, John O'Callaghan, Mallorca Lee, Paul Webster, Timmy & Tommy, Mark Doc, William Daniel, Neal Scarborough, Liam Melly, James Allan & Stuart Trainer. It is going to be an extremely rare occcasion with having all of these busy lads together under one roof at the same time so please make a big effort to come along on the day and support this very important cause. Kick off is at 4pm so be early ! It would be great to raise some serious funds in Barry's name for 'The Meningitis Trust'. Thanks in advance for any donations you can make, no matter how big or small. RIP Barry Connell...gone but not forgotten !!
